Man Utd’s FA Cup Comeback Punishes Nine-Man Fulham

Manchester United produced a controversial comeback win against nine-man Fulham at Old Trafford to secure a spot in the FA Cup semi-finals.

Fulham, who have only made it to the last four once since their 1975 final defeat to West Ham, took the lead through Aleksandar Mitrovic.

However, their fortunes took a turn when a handball incident involving Willian led to a Jadon Sancho shot being cleared off the line. Referee Chris Kavanagh initially awarded a corner, but VAR intervened, leading to Willian's protests and manager Marco Silva's furious reaction.

Silva was quickly shown a red card before Willian followed suit. Mitrovic then added to Fulham's troubles by pushing the referee's arm, earning him a sending off and leaving the team with only eight men.

United capitalized on their numerical advantage, with Bruno Fernandes scoring from the penalty spot, before Marcel Sabitzer and Fernandes scored two more goals in quick succession, securing the 3-1 win and a semi-final clash with Brighton at Wembley.

The controversial decision and the subsequent events that saw Silva, Willian, and Mitrovic sent off is likely to leave a bitter taste for Fulham, with Silva's reaction suggesting that he won't take the defeat lightly.
