President MUHAMMADU BUHARI; Vice-President YEMI OSINBAJO; the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, BOSS MUSTAPHA; and other prominent Nigerians will be among the first set to receive the COVID-19 vaccine on live television to help drive awareness.
The Executive Director, National Primary Health Care Development Agency, FAISAL SHUAIB, disclosed this at the briefing by the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 in Abuja.
He said the move by the nation's leaders to take the vaccine in the full glare of the public was to demonstrate that this vaccine is safe.
SHUAIB said the experience had shown that vaccines are always better than health immunity adding health workers would also be accorded priority when the vaccine arrives.
According to him, "This is to help drive awareness on the virus and the vaccine administration in the country when it finally arrived. He urged Nigerians not to be hesitant on the vaccines when they arrive as key government officials like the president will take it on live TV".
