Murray’s Australia Open In Doubt After Positive Covid19 Test

Former world number one Andy Murray's participation at the Australian Open is in doubt after the Briton tested positive for coronavirus. The 33-year-old Scot was set to fly out to Melbourne on a chartered flight arriving there over the next 36 hours. Instead he remains in quarantine and isolating at home in London. Murray, who is said to be in good health, remains hopeful he will be allowed to travel safely at a later date and compete as planned.

The five-time Australian Open runner-up pulled out of last week's ATP event in Delray Beach as he wanted to "minimize the risks" of catching a transatlantic flight to Florida.
The Australian Open will start on 8 February at Melbourne Park, three weeks later than usual, because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Players must test negative before taking one of the 15 chartered flights - which have been put on by tournament organizers and will operate at 25% capacity - to Australia. Once they have arrived, they will have to pass a series of Covid19 tests during a 14-day quarantine in Melbourne before the Grand Slam.

At 123rd in the world, Murray is ranked too low to gain direct entry into the tournament so the three-time Grand Slam champion has been given a wildcard.

Ighalo Sets Sight On MLS Move

ODION IGHALO has indicated he would like to stay at Manchester United beyond the end of the month and revealed he would also be interested in a move to Major League Soccer.

IGHALO’s loan from Chinese side Shanghai Shenhua is set to end on Jan. 31 after a year at Old Trafford. The Nigerian is waiting before making a decision on his next move but has said he would “love” the opportunity to play in the U.S.

With the arrival of EDINSON CAVANI in the summer, it is unlikely United will extend IGHALO’s stay. But if he leaves at the end of the month, the 31-year-old said he will do so having fulfilled his dream of playing for the team he supported as a boy in Lagos.

“I never believed I’d play for United,” he said. “Where I come from, we fight because of United games.

IGHALO made a key contribution to OLE GUNNAR SOLSKJAER’s team at the end of last season, scoring five goals in 19 appearances as United reached the semifinals of the FA Cup and Europa League, as well as finishing third in the Premier League to secure a return to the Champions League.

He has found opportunities harder to come by this term but it has not dented his appreciation for the chance to live out his dream.
