Ibrahimovic Scores Twice As Ac Milan Go Clear At Top Of Seria A Table

ZLATAN IBRAHIMOVIC scored twice as AC Milan regained their three-point lead at the top of the Serie A table with a comfortable victory at Cagliari.

Inter Milan's win over Juventus on Sunday had put them level on points with STEFANO PIOLI's side.

IBRAHIMOVIC, who now has 13 goals from 13 matches this term, won and converted a penalty to open the scoring. His second after the break ensured a comfortable evening for Milan, who had ALEXIS SAELEMAEKERS sent off.

The former Sweden international's efforts in front of goal mean Milan have now scored in 19 consecutive away fixtures in Serie A to equal their best ever run in the competition.

Aubameyang Gets Brace As Arsenal Ease Past Newcastle

PIERRE-EMERICK AUBAMEYANG scored twice as Arsenal beat Newcastle to move into the top 10 of the Premier League and increase the pressure on Magpies boss STEVE BRUCE.

AUBAMEYANG, who had earlier hit the post from a tight angle in the first half, opened the scoring in the 50th minute when he fired past Newcastle goalkeeper KARL DARLOW.

Arsenal doubled their lead as EMILE SMITH ROWE's pullback found BUKAYO SAKA and the England international side-footed the ball into the net.

AUBAMEYANG, 31, got his second and the Gunners' third after CEDRIC SOARES, in his first league start of the season, got to the byline and set up the striker.

The Gabon international scored 29 goals in all competitions last season, including 22 in the Premier League, but he had previously struggled for goals in 2020-21.

This double took his league total to five for the campaign and boss MIKEL ARTETA was pleased to see AUBAMEYANG return to form.

The victory takes Arsenal above Aston Villa into 10th, with the Gunners seven points adrift of fourth-placed Liverpool in the last Champions League qualifying spot.

Newcastle are 15th, seven points clear of 18th-placed Fulham, although the London side have a game in hand.

January 19, 2021 Keiran Trippier’s Ban Appeal Rejected By FIFA

Keiran Trippier’s Ban Appeal Rejected By FIFA

Kieran Trippier's 10-week ban for breaking betting rules applies globally, FIFA ruled as it dismissed an appeal by his club, Atletico Madrid.

He was banned and fined £70,000 after being found to have broken betting rules.

The England full-back was suspended by the Football Association in December, but the ban was provisionally lifted in January after Atletico appealed.

The Spaniards argued the FA could not ban a player not active in its league.

But FIFA backed the decision, ruling "sanctions imposed on the player by the English FA to have worldwide effect".

Atletico are now taking their appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

Trippier's ban, which started on 21 December, will now resume up to and including 28 February, but if CAS agree to hear the case he will be free to keep playing until a decision is made.

His suspension cannot extend beyond 28 February, irrespective of what CAS decides.

As it stands, following the decision from FIFA, Trippier will miss the first leg of Atletico's Champions League last-16 tie with Chelsea on 23 February, but could return for the second leg on 17 March.
