Some Applicants NIN Registration In Lagos Calls For The Extension Of The Exercise

Some applicants for the National Identification Number registration in Lagos have called for the extension of the exercise.

In an interview with Inspiration fm they said many residents are still struggling to partake in the exercise due to crowd that besieges the NIMC centres daily.

According to them, most of the NIMC centres in the state do not have enough officials and equipment to carry out the registration exercise.

The Federal Government is insisting on January 19, 2021 deadline for subscribers with the National Identification Number and six-week extension for subscribers without NIN to February 9, 2021.

It has given the marching orders to mobile phone networks to cut off phone lines not linked to the owner's National Identity Number by December 30, 2020 but later postponed the deadline.

They were also of the view that the registration could have been done without making Nigerians go through difficulties.

You will recall that NIMC officials also embarked on a two day strike to protest over lack of protection against COVID-19 and poor welfare.
