Suarez Navarro Keen On Olympics Return After Cancer Treatment

Former world number six Carla Suarez Navarro says she is responding "very well" to cancer treatment and "dreams" of returning for one last major event - this year's Tokyo Olympics.

The Spaniard, 32, was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma last year.

Suarez Navarro posted on Twitter on Monday that she was having her last chemotherapy session.

"I don't want people to remember me in a hospital bed, so I'd like to go again into a big tournament," she said.

"It would be a dream to do that - an Olympic Games to say bye to my tennis family and also all my tennis fans."

Suarez Navarro, who had previously planned to retire in 2020, said she has discussed teaming up with Garbine Muguruza, her doubles partner at the Rio 2016 Olympics.

The seven-time Grand Slam quarter-finalist says her focus remains on treatment and recovering physically, but said she began to reconsider her plans to retire after doctors encouraged her to continue to play tennis.

Suarez Navarro, who is still ranked 85 in the world despite last playing in February 2020, returned to the court for the first time in December to practice with Italy's former world number five Sara Errani in Barcelona.

‘I’m Exactly Where I Need To Be’: Pamela Anderson Marries Her Bodyguard

Pamela Anderson has spoken of how happy she is following her Christmas Eve wedding to her bodyguard.

The former Baywatch star married Dan Hayhurst in a small ceremony at her home on Canada's Vancouver Island.

She told An online source: "I'm exactly where I need to be - in the arms of a man who truly loves me."

This is the 54-year-old's fifth marriage (although she denies she was legally married to her last husband, film producer Jon Peters) and it comes after the two met at the beginning of last year's lockdown.

She said they fell head over heels in love and it was a "natural fit", adding: "This one year together has felt like seven - like dog years."

The ceremony was conducted by a local pastor and blessed by Canadian First Nation representatives.

Anderson said: "I was married on the property I bought from my grandparents 25 years ago. This is where my parents were married and they are still together. I feel like I've come full circle.

"I think this romantic property has a lot of healing energy. I'm at peace here. It's a big property but a few people passing by could see the fairytale gown with the long Princess Diana veil dragging in the mud. Heaven."

The couple chose to have no family or friends and the ceremony and no bridal party.

The guest list would have been limited due to coronavirus restrictions but Anderson added: "We prefer to be ourselves".

Earlier this week, Anderson wrote what she described as her last post on social media.

She said: "I've never been interested in social media and now that I'm settled into the life I'm genuinely inspired by reading and being in nature. I am free.

"Thanks for the love. Blessings to you all.

"Let's hope you find the strength and inspiration to follow your purpose and try not to be seduced by wasted time.

"That's what THEY want and can use to make money. Control over your brain."

Cicely Tyson Award-Winning And Legendary Actress Dies At 96

The award-winning actress who trailblazed a career across several decades and appeared in countless TV shows, films and Broadway plays, died Thursday at age 96, according to her manager. Tyson's role as a sharecropper's wife in the film "Sounder" landed her an Oscar nomination in 1973.

"With heavy heart, the family of Miss Cicely Tyson announces her peaceful transition this afternoon," Tyson's family said in a statement from her manager. "At this time, please allow the family their privacy."

Tyson, who first entered the spotlight as a model, was well-known across the entertainment industry, earning two Emmy Awards — best lead actress in a drama and best actress in a special — for her role as a former slave in the 1974 TV drama "The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman." In a defining moment of the film, Pittman walks up and drinks from the whites-only water fountain.

At age 96, Tyson was asked by King what it's like to be considered a legend.

"I'm amazed every single day I live," she said. "I mean, what my life became is not what I expected ... I had no idea that I would touch anybody."

When King asked Tyson: "When the time comes, what do you want us to remember about you?"

She replied: "I done my best. That's all."

May her soul rest in peace.
