Atletico Madrid Forward, Joao Felix Tests Positive For Coronavirus

La Liga League leaders, Atletico Madrid has announced that forward Joao Felix is now the third player in two weeks to test positive for Covid-19.

"Joao Felix has tested positive for Covid-19. The striker is isolating at home, in compliance with the health authorities' guidelines and La Liga protocols," Atletico said in a statement on Wednesday.

The 21-year-old Portuguese youngster joins teammates Yannick Carrasco and Mario Hermoso, who tested positive for coronavirus last week, on the sidelines.

Carrasco and Hermoso missed Atletico's 4-2 win at Cadiz on Sunday, but club record-signing Felix started and played 60 minutes yet will now be unavailable for Monday's clash at home to Celta Vigo.

Felix, who moved to Atletico from Benfica for a club-record £113m in the summer of 2019, has made 25 appearances for Diego Simeone's side in all competitions this season, scoring nine goals.

”I’d Rather Die In The Battle Than Try To Hide And Survive” – Anthony Joshua Fires Warning To Tyson Fury

Anthony Joshua has fired a stern warning to Tyson Fury as their world title fight edges closer.

The British-Nigerian boxer is expected to face Fury in an undisputed world title fight this year, with the pair still in talks to finalize terms for a blockbuster battle that will decide the sport's No 1 heavyweight.

Speaking in an interview on his YouTube channel ahead of the fight, the two-time unified world heavyweight champion, said: ”I’d rather die in battle, so I can go to the heavens where the warriors lie than go to battle and try to hide and survive.”

”No matter what the tactics are, no matter how much you study, no matter how much you think you can beat me, I’m just there to win. That’s the fighter’s mentality – some people may not understand it,” he said.

He also reiterated his love for boxing despite it being an uncivilized sport.

”This is a sport of combat and war. We’re not civilized people, we’re warriors, and I love it.”

Joshua, who won his rematch against the Bulgarian, Kubrat Pulev, back in December to retain his heavyweight titles also stated that is willing to avoid making the same errors that cost him the crown in the first place.

I wear my scars like an honour. I think I’m someone who has to get burnt to learn not to touch the stove. When I got burnt, I said I never want to make that mistake again. Anyone that stands in front of me will feel the force,” he mentioned.

Joshua's promoter Eddie Hearn has been finalizing a deal with Fury's American promoter Bob Arum with a number of countries being considered to stage the fight.

”We’ve had big discussions with Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Australia, Singapore,” he told Sportsmail.

No decision has yet been made on the location of the fight, though the ongoing coronavirus restrictions in the UK mean the chances of the first clash between Joshua and Fury taking place on home soil are extremely slim.”

Palace Secure Comeback Win Over Newcastle

Crystal Palace recorded back-to-back wins in the Premier League for the first time since September as they kept an attack-minded Newcastle at bay at St James' Park.

The Magpies had a handful of chances to add to the second-minute strike from Jonjo Shelvey, while Roy Hodgson's side made the most of their opportunities, turning the match around in a four-minute spell courtesy of goals from Jairo Riedewald and Gary Cahill.

Riedewald's effort trumped Shelvey's half-volley, when his 20-yard rocket took a slight deflection off Ciaran Clark in beating keeper Karl Darlow. And then in the 25th minute 35-year-old Cahill leapt highest to flick Eberechi Eze's corner delivery past the reach of the Magpies keeper. In doing so, the former Chelsea defender became the club's oldest scorer in the competition.

Andros Townsend should have made it 3-1 in stoppage time, but almost inexplicably struck his effort high and wide from four yards.

The visiting backline was busier of the two defenses with Vicente Guaita producing a great instinctive block to deny Ryan Fraser and making another save to deny the Scot.

Victory sees Palace move level on 29 points with 12th place Southampton, while Newcastle remain in 16th and eight points above the drop-zone.
