Toke Makinwa- ‘No One Can Judge Me, No One Is Feeding Me’

Toke Makinwa has reacted to the backlashes melted on her since her now-controversial comments about Kelly Clarkson's divorce settlement.

The media personality reacts after controversial comments about Kelly Clarkson's divorce settlement.

Clarkson was directed by a court to pay her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock, $200,000 (N100M) monthly in spousal support.

Makinwa while reacting to the judgment said it was odious for a woman to pay that sum to her ex-husband.

After she shared her views, she was slammed on social media. Even her colleague and OAP, N6 took to Instagram, where he described her as unintelligent.

Makinwa in her response to all the bashing on social media said she isn't afraid to air her mind about any topic.

"The freedom that comes from not trying to impress the world. Not caring if you are liked or not, not trying to fit in, not allowing the crowd mentality own you is priceless," she wrote.

Toke Makinwa is a Nigerian radio personality, television host, vlogger, lifestyle entrepreneur, and author.

She is known for hosting The Morning Drive on Rhythm 93.7 FM and for her YouTube vlog series Toke Moments. She released her book On Becoming in November 2016.

Scarlett Johansson Sues Disney Over Streaming Release Of ‘Black Widow’

Scarlett Johansson has dragged Disney to court for a breach in contract after the entertainment giant simultaneously released her standalone film 'Black Widow' in theatres and on Disney+.

The lawsuit claims Johansson's salary was based on the box office performance of the film.

“Disney intentionally induced Marvel’s breach of the agreement, without justification, in order to prevent Ms Johansson from realizing the full benefit of her bargain with Marvel,” the suit, filed on July 29, 2021, read.

According to reports, Johansson's lawyers tried to renegotiate the actress's contract with Disney in 2019 after first expressing concerns about the multi-platform release.

“This will surely not be the last case where Hollywood talent stands up to Disney and makes it clear that, whatever the company may pretend, it has a legal obligation to honor its contracts,” said John Berlinski, Johansson's attorney.

'Black Widow' opened strongly in the United States with $80 million but reportedly dropped by 67% in its second week. Disney announced that it made $60 million via rentals in its opening weekend at $30 per rental.

July 29, 2021 Nigerian Scammer Hushpuppi Pleads Guilty To Fraud

Nigerian Scammer Hushpuppi Pleads Guilty To Fraud

Nigerian scammer Ramon Olorunwa Abbas also known as Hushpuppi has pleaded guilty to fraud in an American court.

United States Department of Justice (DoJ) in a statement on Wednesday said court documents show that Abbas, a 37-year-old Nigerian national, pleaded guilty on April 20.

A date is to be fixed for Mr Abass to change his previous “not guilty” plea to “guilty” and will be followed by a sentencing hearing for the judge to determine how long he will spend in jail.

A version of Hushpuppi’s plea agreement filed late Tuesday outlines his role in a school finance scheme, as well as several other cyber and business email compromise schemes that cumulatively caused more than $24 million in losses.

Acting United States Attorney Tracy L. Wilkison said Hushpuppi allegedly faked the financing of a Qatari school by playing the roles of bank officials and creating a bogus website in a scheme that also bribed a foreign official to keep the elaborate pretense going after the victim was tipped off.

Wilkison stated that Hushpuppi played “a significant role in the scheme, funded his luxurious lifestyle by laundering illicit proceeds generated by con artists who use increasingly sophisticated means.”

Kristi K. Johnson, the Assistant Director in Charge of the FBI’s Los Angeles Field Office said Hushpuppi “among the most high-profile money launderers in the world, has admitted to his significant role in perpetrating global BEC fraud, a scheme currently plaguing Americans.

“His celebrity status and ability to make connections seeped into legitimate organizations and led to several spin-off schemes in the U.S. and abroad,” Johnson said in the DoJ statement.

Hushpuppi and members of his gang were aressted while sleeping at their Dubai residences in June 2020.

The Nigerian fraudster was arrested along with Olalekan Jacob Ponle, also known as Woodberry and 10 others.

Dubai police said 12 suspects were arrested in six simultaneous raids carried out by its e-police unit.

The police said Hushpuppi and the gang were responsible for Dh1.6 billion (about N169 billion) fraud involving over 1.9 million victims. Items worth N15.845 billion (Dh 150 million) were also seized.

13 luxury cars worth N2. 640 billion (Dh 25 million), 21 laptops, 47 smartphones, 15 memory storage devices, 5 external hard drives and 800, 000 emails of potential victims were also recovered from the gang during the arrest.

Hushpuppi and members of his gang were extradited to the United States  in July 2020.

July 28, 2021 Nigeria’s Education System, One Of The Best In The World – Educationist

Nigeria’s Education System, One Of The Best In The World – Educationist

Aladesemipe, Proprietor of Calvary Group of Schools in Ibadan, stated this at a valedictory service held for graduands of 2020/2021 academic session on Tuesday.

An Educationist, Mr Olaoluwa Aladesemipe, has described Nigeria’s education system as one of the best in the world, saying it has been providing workforce for several countries.

He noted that the quality of the country’s education system had, over the years, positioned its citizens to be relevant, particularly outside the country.

“Nigeria’s education system is one of the best. If you are a Nigerian and you go to countries like Canada and USA, you get job faster than other nationals.

“This is because most of the people we are competing with there are either Chinese or Indians.

"No doubt, they have their brilliance, but most of them don’t go to the university in their countries.

“When people are running down Nigeria’s education system, I feel it is because they don’t know what the quality is.

"We have the quality but unfortunately, we are not doing it the right way at home,” Aladesemipe said.

He noted that Nigeria could become a hub for job globally, adding: “We just need little more efforts and organization from the top.

“Canada doesn’t have people to work for it. Likewise, USA is looking for best brains. So if they can go to China, they can equally come to Nigeria.

“Hardly will you see any company where a Nigerian will allow a Chinese or an Indian to be his boss abroad.

“But, at home here, their technicians will be our bosses. So there is a misplacement of priority,” he added.

According to Aladesemipe, many African nationals claim to be Nigerians abroad owing to the brilliant showing of many Nigerians.

He urged the Federal Government to help facilitate loans for the over 35,000 private schools in the country through banks at one digit interest rate.

According to him, every private school should be able to access the funds allocated to cater for every child, as budgeted by each state.

He said that government should allow parents to take their children to whatever school they desired and ensure that the fund budgeted for each child was paid to the school.

This, the educationist said, would bring down the cost of training a child, adding that this was the standard practice, particularly in most developed countries.

“It will also reduce the number of out-of-school children, which are in their millions in the country,” he said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the three best graduating students: Jomiloju AgboolaOluwatise Ajayi and Rereloluwa Uansohia were given awards.

In an interview with NAN, Ajayi appreciated God and his parents for the successes recorded.

Ajayi, who won award as the Best Mathematics and Civic Education Student, wished his fellow graduands success in their future endeavours, urging them not to rest on their laurels.
