Ini Edo: Marriage Isn’t My Priority

Nollywood star actress, Ini Edo, has come out to bluntly say that marriage is not her priority.

The screen goddess also said she makes friends better with guys than women.

The actress said she has numerous male friends who have been tagged as her lovers.

She spoke in an interview with Blogger, Stella Dimoko Dorkus.

She said, “Stella, I naturally make friends better with guys than women. I do have few female friends don’t get me wrong but I relate better with people who are older and way more experienced in life than I am. I relate with people who bring value to my life. How many people can one possibly date? I have loads of male friends, most of them, I am friends with their entire family including wives.

“It’s so sad that in Nigeria, when a ‘single’ woman is friends with a guy, it must mean to people that they are dating. I mean make it make sense, Kome has been my friend for years and that is what it is, period. He is a responsible family man and doesn’t deserve to be dragged into my motherhood story. Anyone saying that he is the father of my daughter is a lie from the pit of hell.

“I really hope to keep my baby off social media, and this was why I’ve been reluctant putting her out there. I would love to keep everything about her private for now. There are a lot of celebrities whose children are not growing up on the social media pages and living normal lives. That is how I want it to be for my daughter. It is a choice to put her out there or not and I choose to keep her private.

“Right now, marriage isn’t my priority, I’ve been married before and it wasn’t exactly a bed of roses. Marriage is a good thing instituted by God and ultimately most people’s desire but I am not just crazy about distractions and the complications that come with it. I am not against it though.

“I’m in the phase of taking care of my child and focusing my positive energies on motherhood and my running businesses. This is all I have time for right now and shun all negative news or energy. Thank You for always reaching out to get the truth when the lies start spreading, I guess that is what being a seasoned journalist entails.”

December 3, 2021 Court Fixes Dec 15 For Ruling On Baba Ijesha’s Case

Court Fixes Dec 15 For Ruling On Baba Ijesha’s Case

Justice OLUWATOYIN TAIWO of an Ikeja Special Offences Court has fixed December 15, for ruling on the admissibility of confessional statement of Nollywood actor, JAMES OLANREWAJU a.k.a Baba Ijesha.

The judge fixed the date after counsels have adopted their final written addresses.

Baba Ijesha is facing a six-count charge bordering on allegations of indecent treatment of a child, sexual assault, attempted sexual assault by penetration and sexual assault by penetration.

The film star has been in a legal tussle after he was accused of assaulting a 14-year-old minor when she was 7.

The actor had earlier confessed to the allegations against him in his confessional statement to the police.

However, when he appeared in court on November 19, the actor alleged that he was forced to sign the confessional statement at the police station.

Babatunde Ogala and Dada Awosika, lawyers to the actor, had claimed that the statement cannot be admitted as evidence by the court since their client did not give it willingly.

At the time, the judge had approved the lawyers’ request for a trial-within-trial to determine the voluntariness of the statement.

After the trial-within-trial, Taiwo had adjourned the trial for adoption of written addresses.

He objected to the submission of the prosecution that the defendant was not tortured.

Citing Section 35(1) of the evidence act, Awosika argued that in criminal matters, there are two burdens of proof, adding that “one can change and the other doesn’t change”.

He stated that the defendant had put forward facts before the court which substantiate the use of oppression.

“It is for the court to look at evidence by the defendant that he was handcuffed, beaten and forced to sit on the ground. Does that not qualify as evidence of oppression?” he asked.

Awosika further stated that section 29(5) of the evidence acts to buttress his point.

“Even from the prosecution’s evidence, the defendant was sitting on the ground and shaking; one cannot make a statement under that condition,” he added.

He enjoined the court to discountenance the submission of the prosecution.

However, Yusuf Sule, the lead prosecutor, argued that there was no evidence before the court that the defendant was oppressed while making his confessional statement.

Sule stated that the defendant told the court that he was beaten before he was brought to the police station.

This, he said, “means it was a mob attack from which he was rescued” and the defendant was trying to mislead the court.

Sule tasked the court to uphold that the confessional statement of Baba Ijesha was voluntarily made.

Following the adoption of the written addresses, Taiwo ordered a witness summon to be issued for Brown Asuquo, a prosecution witness, mandating him to appear in court at the next adjourned date.

Seun Kuti Shuns Gov Sanwo-Olu’s ‘Walk Of Peace’ Plans

Kuti says the governor should walk the walk of justice.

Nigerian Afrobeat singer Seun Kuti has distanced himself from the proposed 'walk of peace' by the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Sanwo-Olu had sued for peace and harmony several well-meaning Nigerians including the music star.

During a chat with Channels TV, the music star rubbished the proposed walk, insisting that justice must prevail over the lives lost during the protest that rocked the nation in 2020.

"I am for justice. If you know me you know I am just a normal guy that wants things to happen the way they should happen. I'm not one of those that do things for popularity or for people to like me or to gain access to anybody," he said.

"I don't need to walk with the governor before there is peace in Lagos. There has been peace in Lagos for years that nobody had to walk for it. It is the thing that we need to sort. And to sort it now, only justice can do that. And we all know that there is no place in the world without justice."

When asked if he would join the walk of peace, the music star advised the governor to bring justice by doing the right thing.

"The governor should walk the walk he is talking about by bringing about justice. The governor is not an embodiment of justice, Seun Kuti is not an embodiment of justice, Falz is not an embodiment of justice, Mr Macaroni is not an embodiment of justice also," he added.
