Primeboy Sues Mohbad’s Mother for ₦50 Million Over Defamation

Owodunni Ibrahim, popularly known as Primeboy, a childhood friend of the late singer Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, widely known as Mohbad, has taken legal action against the singer’s mother, Abosede Aloba, over alleged defamation.

Mohbad passed away on September 12, 2023, and was buried the following day. However, his body was later exhumed by the police on September 21, 2023, for an autopsy as part of ongoing investigations into his death.

In October 2024, Primeboy had warned of legal action against Abosede, accusing her of falsely claiming that he had an altercation with her son before his death.

In a letter, the first page of which was shared via Instagram, Primeboy described Abosede’s alleged remarks as “libelous, injurious, and malicious.” He demanded ₦50 million in exemplary damagesfor what he claimed was a deliberate attempt to tarnish his reputation.

The letter reads in part:

“The sum of ₦50,000,000.00 (Fifty Million Naira only) being exemplary damages for libelous, injurious, false, and malicious statements made by the Defendant in a video interview on March 28, 2024, and published across several news and online media platforms, aimed at defaming the Claimant in the eyes of right-thinking members of society.”

The legal notice also instructed Abosede to respond within 42 days, warning that failure to do so would result in the case proceeding in her absence.

“You are hereby commanded that within 42 (forty-two) days after the service of this Writ on you, inclusive of the day of such service, you do cause an appearance to be entered for you in an action at the suit of the Claimant,” the letter further stated.

The lawsuit has sparked reactions among Mohbad’s fans and the public, as the late singer’s death remains a subject of controversy.

“Skin issue”: Vector responds to Gasperini, the Atalanta manager, denouncing Lookman as “harsh.”

Vector Tha Viper, a Nigerian musician, has blasted Atalanta boss Gasperini for his “harsh” assessment of winger Ademola Lookman after the player missed a penalty kick during Tuesday night’s 3-1 Champions League loss to Club Brugge.

Lookman had the opportunity to score a second goal for Atalanta, who were behind three goals right after he entered the game, but Simon Mignolet palmed away his penalty.

Lookman was described as “the worst penalty taker he has ever seen” by Atalanta manager Gasperini in a post-match statement.

He added that even though Lookman wasn’t the team’s assigned penalty taker, he persisted on taking the spot-kick.

Rapper Vector responded by claiming that Gasperini was being racist and that Victor Osimhen had a similar experience at Napoli.

“Until Napoli began to laugh, I believed I had won.” Make Lookman appear good. On his X handle, he stated, “This skin issue sha.”

Lookman has explained that the team’s designated penalty taker asked him to take the spot-kick, contradicting Gasperini’s assertion that he insisted on doing so despite not being the team’s authorized penalty taker.
