BBNaija Star Mike Edwards Crowned 2-Time Nigerian High Jump Champion

Nigeria's high jump champion, BBNaija sensation Mike Edwards, will compete for Nigeria at the Commonwealth Games.

Mike Edwards, a Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) celebrity, has reclaimed his title as Nigeria's high jump champion.

At the current 2022 National Trials, 32-year-old Edwards was named the Nigerian high jump champion.

At the National trials, which the Athletics Federation of Nigeria, AFN, arranged, Edwards made his mark.

A former high jumper for Great Britain, Edwards competed in the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City, Edo State.

After competing in Big Brother Naija Season 4, popularly known as Big Brother Naija: Pepper Dem edition, Mike Edwards, a high jump champion, rose to fame.

He reached a season high of 2.20 meters to win the high jump competition.

Edwards celebrated his most recent accomplishment on his official Instagram account.

A statement reading "TWO TIME NIGERIAN NATIONAL CHAMPION #AndStillJOB FINISHED" was posted with a picture of the occasion. Road back to the Commonwealth Games: 2.20 m.

Edwards is anticipated to be a member of Nigeria's delegation to the 2022 Commonwealth Games, which will be held in Birmingham and begin in July and are formally known as the XXII Commonwealth Games.

Edwards was unable to compete in the 2018 edition, which was sanctioned by the International Amateur Athletic Federation and the International Association of Athletics Federations, in Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia (IAAF).

On Sunday, June 26, 2022, at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, the 2022 BET Awards were presented. Among others, Roddy Rich, Fireboy DML, Jack Harlow, Babyface, Chance the Rapper, GIVON, Chlöe, and Joey Bada$$ performed on the show, which was hosted by well-known actress Taraji P. Henson.

Wizkid won the award for Best Collaboration for 'Essence' featuring Tems and Justin Bieber.

Tems also took home the award for Best International Act.

Tonto Dikeh Nominated As Deputy Governorship Candidate Of Rivers State Under ADC

The African Democratic Congress has chosen Tonto Dikeh, a popular actor from Nigeria, to run for deputy governor of Rivers State.

On Friday, June 24, 2022, Tonte Ibraye, the party's candidate for governor, announced it on his Instagram page.

"After series of consultations with leaders of our party the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Rivers State and the national level, I’m glad to announce Amb. Tonto Dikeh ( tontolet )as my running mate for the 2023 gubernatorial election in Rivers State," he wrote.

"We are pleased to welcome her to the #RiversRescueMission2023 as we strive to improve the standard of living for everyone in our dear Rivers State. Please join our press conference at 11 am today. #TonteTonto2023."

The actress also praised Ibraye for proposing her for the position of deputy governor of Rivers State on her Instagram page.

"I thank Mr. Tonte Ibraye(@tonteibraye), the Governorship Candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Rivers State for nominating me as his running mate," she wrote.

"We are looking forward to investing massively in social protection, creating a social value system for young people, increased women's inclusion in our governance system, supporting small businesses and strengthening our traditional institutions to be active players in the drive to bring sustainable development to the good people of Rivers State."

The biggest song in Nigeria in 2022 was "Buga" by Vado D'Great and Tekno, which topped charts and swept the nation. The song was even played as the event soundtrack at the APC Presidential Convention.

The #BUGACHALLENGE was something that Liberian President George Weah participated in, demonstrating that "Buga's" renown extends beyond Nigeria.

Kizz Daniel undoubtedly wanted to play the song at the largest athletic event in the world due to the song's developing international fame.
