Tems Appreciates Asa, Tiwa Savage, Others After BET Win

Temilade Openiyi, better known by her stage as Tems, has expressed her thanks to early female pioneers in the Nigerian music scene.

She acknowledged female musicians from Nigeria who blazed the path in the music industry and were an inspiration to her on her Twitter page.

She listed people like Asa, Omawunmi, Tiwa Savage, Yemi Alade, Waje, Simi, Niniola, and others in the string of tweets.

I'm taking today to celebrate all the sisters today, Tems tweeted on Tuesday. Thank you for being alive and for making the decision to get up and take action as a result of someone else being moved by what they witnessed. @Omawumi @TiwaSavage @yemialadee @OfficialWaje @SympLySimi @OfficialNiniola @Asa official

She also mentioned certain up-and-coming artists, including herself, and declared that they will all "shock the music business like a tsunami."

"When I see any of you gracing a stage, I feel like that's me, @amaarae @Gyakie_ @ayrastarr @faveszn @TeniEntertainer. We're all triumphant and going to engulf the area like a tsunami. As we demonstrate to the world how it should be done, know before it begins that love exists on this side.

And if I accidentally missed any messages, it was inadvertent. I don't take your encouragement and lovely comments for granted. Today, I'm giving love to everyone because I think you DESERVE it. Love forever," she penned.

Responding to the shout-out, Omawunmi tweeted, “I’m truly humbled! Massive Congratulations. To the sky and above!”

“Tems all the way. I love you big!” Asa also replied.

“A queen I Stan,” Waje responded.

Her appreciation tweets follow her wins at the 2022 BET Awards on Sunday.

Temilade took home the award for the Best International Act, beating the likes of UK’s Dave, and her Nigerian counterpart, Fireboy DML.

Wizkid’s “Essence” which featured Tems and Canadian star, Justin Bieber, also bagged the BET Best Collaboration award.

Actress Carolyna Hutchings Denies Falsifying Age, Slams Critics

Carolyna Hutchings (previously Caroline Danjuma), a Nollywood actress, has refuted claims that she lied about her age.

Carolyna Hutchings, who turned 35 on Sunday, came under criticism for allegedly lying about her age when internet users said that she was older than 35.

On Monday, the Real Housewives of Lagos star attacked her detractors, saying there was no justification for her to have lied about her age.

She mentioned that her mother was in her 50s when posting a photo of herself, her mother, and her child on her Instagram profile.

She wrote, “Trilogy. This is my mum who is in her 50’s, so how in God’s name will I be 46 ? Am I reducing my age because I need a job in a company? I am the CEO of mine.

“Reducing my age for Nollywood? An actor can act in both young and old roles. Makeup can be applied. I am reducing my age because of school? I have enough certificates already.

“Reducing my age because of a relationship? A good man will love his woman regardless of her age. Reduce my age for your validation? I don’t give two F’s about you, sugar.

Not everyone in a class is the same age. In secondary school, I had people 5 years older than me in my class. In university, my assistant class rep was 45 years old. In my master’s, my class rep was 23 and I 34. In my MBA, I had both young and old.

“Just because you acted a movie with me does NOT mean we are the same age. You are asking for my birth certificate, Have you seen your own mother and father’s birth certificate before?

“That it took you time to achieve something in your life does not mean I have to run your race. We have different glory and destiny. That you started school late and failed entrance exam a couple of times is none of my business. We don’t have the same IQ.

“Stupid people saying they watched me as a kid. I was in the industry for only two years before my marriage. Bomboclat can’t stand my glory.”

“Are you aware Wikipedia can be created and edited by ANYONE? And not everything on Google is a FACT? Even Christ was married on Google. To the clowns talking unintelligently about my age, mind the business that pays you.

“Any age, race, or class can act a movie. Any one can be a star at any age; no rules to follow. Yes, I am 35 years old and this will be the last time I will address this.

“I don’t need to be an old woman to achieve anything or be an actress. Success and luck come to anyone when it is their time. Focus on making money.”

Johnny Depp In Talks To Return To ‘Pirates Of The Caribbean’

Following his departure from the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise in 2018, actor Johnny Depp is allegedly in discussions to join the series again.

According to The Insider, the studio has taken steps to mend its relationship with the star with a $300 million contract.

They reached out to the actor prior to his defamation trial against Amber Heard and asked whether he would be interested in returning for another pirate film or two,” the source shared.

”The deal is reportedly for Johnny Depp to return as Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean 6 and a spin-off Disney Plus series about the early life of the Captain of The Black Pearl.”

They continued: “What I can tell you is that the studio has already penned up a draft for a film about Jack Sparrow so they are very hopeful that Johnny will forgive them and return as his iconic character.”

After appearing in the 2017 film Dead Men Tell No Tales, Depp was fired from the franchise in 2018. The same year, his ex-wife Amber Heard published an opinion piece in the Washington Post describing her experience as a victim of domestic violence. Before 2018, Depp starred in five Pirates films during a 15-year period.

Recall that Depp and Heard both recently made news following his victory in a defamation lawsuit against her about the Washington Post Op-Ed. Although the judge ultimately lowered the punitive damages judgement to $350,000 due to a state cap, Depp was initially given $10 million in compensatory damages and $5 million in punitive damages.

Heard had stated that she intended to challenge the judgment, claiming that she was in danger of becoming bankrupt. She has also spoken to the media about the unfavorable decision, accusing them of buying into the star's lovable and larger-than-life on-screen character.
