Nancy Isime: Marriage Has Never Been a Daydream for Me Like It Is for Other Young Girls

Nigerian actress Nancy Isime has shared her unique outlook on marriage, explaining that, unlike many young girls who fantasize about their weddings, her focus has always been on building her career and achieving financial independence.

During an interview on the "Creativitea Live with Lynda" podcast, Isime discussed her goals, stating that her priorities revolve around work and money, not marriage. She said, "I've always envisioned myself working. While many young girls daydream about getting married, I never did. I used to daydream about working, making my own money, and being independent."

Isime also expressed that she isn't concerned with the idea of a "dream wedding," noting that if she does get married, the wedding will be whatever she and her partner agree on at the time—whether big or small.

The actress linked her perspective to her upbringing, where financial struggles shaped her desire for independence. She explained, "Growing up in a humble background, asking for things was almost taboo. You were expected to know there wasn’t money, so I always dreamed of having my own. I couldn’t wait to make my own money and do my own thing."

Isime emphasized that her main priority is creating her ideal life through financial independence, saying, "I believe in spending on myself, so no one can ever claim that without them, I wouldn’t have the life I enjoy."

Ben Bruce: Nigeria to Host Miss Universe 2025 if Chidimma Adetshina Wins

Senator Ben Murray-Bruce, Chairman of the Silverbird Group, has announced that Nigeria will host the 2025 Miss Universe beauty pageant if Chidimma Adetshina, the newly crowned Miss Universe Nigeria, wins this year’s competition.

In a statement on his X (formerly Twitter) account on Tuesday, Bruce assured that the Silverbird Group would do everything in its power to bring the global event to Nigeria next year. He emphasized that the challenges faced during their attempt to host Miss World in Nigeria in 2002 would not be repeated.

Bruce declared that it is time for Nigeria to regain its prominence on the global stage. He stated, "If Chidimma Adetshina wins the Miss Universe crown, The Silverbird Group will spare no effort or expense to bring the 2025 Miss Universe pageant to Nigeria. We’ve learned from the past—those who remember our attempt to host Miss World in Nigeria in 2002 know the challenges we faced. But I want to be clear: what happened then will not happen again. Nigeria is ready to reclaim its rightful place on the global stage, and nothing can stand in our way."

Chidimma Adetshina recently won the Miss Universe Nigeria title after being forced to resign from the Miss South Africa beauty contest due to scrutiny over her nationality.

Court Sentences ‘Yahoo Boy’ for Impersonating Flavour N’abania and Defrauding American

The Federal High Court in Lagos has sentenced Courage Ikpaka to two years in prison for defrauding a U.S. citizen, Mrs. Yvelte M. Thompson, of $53,000 by impersonating the Nigerian musician Chinedu Okoli, popularly known as Flavour N’abania.

Justice Dehinde Dipeolu handed down the sentence on Tuesday after Ikpaka pleaded guilty to a two-count charge filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

During the trial, EFCC investigator Azibagiri Dan Ekpar, led by prosecution counsel Suleiman Suleiman, provided evidence against Ikpaka. Ekpar testified that Ikpaka had impersonated Flavour, promising to organize shows in the United States and receiving payments through Bitcoin wallets.

The fraud was uncovered after a petition was filed by Eyitayo Tolulope Abiodun and others on behalf of the victim. Ekpar stated, "We invited Flavour, who cooperated with the investigation and denied any involvement. Our investigation led us to Ikpaka Courage in Benin City, who admitted to impersonating Flavour and defrauding the woman of $53,000 in 2021."

Ikpaka converted the funds into Naira and deposited them into his Access Bank account. The EFCC recovered ₦7.9 million from the defendant through manager's cheques from Zenith and Access Bank.

After reviewing the evidence and Ikpaka's guilty plea, Justice Dipeolu sentenced him to two years in prison with the option of a ₦2 million fine. Additionally, the judge ordered the forfeiture of the ₦7.9 million recovered from Ikpaka to Mrs. Thompson.
