Verydarkman Could’ve Been Arrested, Says Falz

Nigerian rapper and actor Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz, has addressed the ongoing controversy surrounding social media personality VeryDarkMan, who made serious allegations against him and his father, renowned lawyer Femi Falana.

During an interview on the Afrobeat podcast, Falz spoke about the accusations, which claimed that he and his father had manipulated justice and bribed officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The controversy began on September 24, 2024, when VeryDarkMan released a viral audio clip in which social media star Bobrisky (Idris Okuneye) alleged he had bribed officials to dismiss money laundering charges against him. Bobrisky also insinuated that Falz and his father had helped facilitate this.

The allegations sparked widespread criticism of Falz, who quickly responded by giving VeryDarkMan a 24-hour ultimatum to retract his statements.

In the podcast, Falz expressed his frustration over the baseless claims, saying, “One day, [VeryDarkMan] thought it wise to sit down, turn on his ring light, and accuse my dad and me of conspiring with certain individuals to manipulate justice and bribe the EFCC. He even added that the reason I did this is because of a homosexual relationship with Bobrisky. How could anyone feel good about that? These are terrible things to say without any evidence.”

In response, Falz and his father pursued legal action. On October 14, 2024, a Lagos State High Court ordered VeryDarkMan to remove all defamatory content related to Falz and his father from his social media platforms, stop making further defamatory statements, and issue an apology across all platforms where the allegations had been shared.

Speaking about the legal case, Falz explained, “I filed for defamation of character because that’s exactly what this is. The case is still ongoing, and the court has ordered him to take down the defamatory video and refrain from making further defamatory remarks while the case is being resolved.”

Falz clarified that although defamation can have criminal consequences, he chose not to pursue that route. “He could have been arrested, but I didn’t want to go down that path. Now, they’re trying to paint my family as oppressors because of our legal resources. I don’t go looking for trouble.”

Falz also dismissed claims that VeryDarkMan had issued a genuine apology. “He posted something on his Instagram story, but it wasn’t an apology. The defamatory video is still up on his page,” he said.

The legal proceedings are still underway, and Falz emphasized that the full truth will be revealed in court. "Since he’s intent on litigation, the rest of the explanation will happen in court,” he concluded.

Halima Abubakar Apologizes to Apostle Johnson Suleman for Her Falsehoods

Nollywood actress Halima Abubakar has issued an apology to Apostle Johnson Suleman of Omega Fire Ministries for defaming him. In her apology, Abubakar acknowledged spreading falsehoods about Suleman and causing him distress through her social media posts.

The conflict between Halima Abubakar and Apostle Suleman began in 2022, when the actress fell ill following an altercation with the clergyman. During her sickness, her family publicly urged Suleman to stay away from her. However, many speculated that Abubakar was suffering from an autoimmune disease, a claim she later refuted by sharing her medical report.

In a letter addressed to Apostle Suleman, Halima Abubakar expressed deep regret for her actions and sought his forgiveness. She acknowledged the harm her allegations had caused to Suleman, his wife, Dr. Lizzy Suleman, their family, and the Omega Fire Ministries leadership.

The letter stated: “I admit that I made false allegations against you and regret the damage I caused to you, your wife, your family, and the leaders of Omega Fire Ministry. With this letter, I humbly ask for forgiveness, recognizing that my apology cannot undo the harm, pain, and distress I caused. I ask you to find it in your heart to forgive me, as I was not thinking clearly at that time. I’m truly sorry for all the hurt and distress I caused you, your family, and your ministry.

Timaya Laments Increasing Hardships of Living in Nigeria

Nigerian singer Inetimi Alfred Odom, popularly known as Timaya, has expressed concern over the growing hardships worldwide, noting that the situation is especially severe in Nigeria. In a recent interview with Channels Television, Timaya emphasized that while economic challenges are a global issue, Nigeria's struggles are far more intense.

"Things are really tough. I feel for people because if they're not happy, I can't be happy either. I pay bills and help a lot of people, so I understand what they're going through. I'm also feeling the pinch of this hardship," he said.

Timaya explained that the cost of living has significantly impacted him, particularly in terms of paying his staff and supporting his family. "Salaries and upkeep have skyrocketed. You can't expect things to be normal. Even politicians are struggling, so imagine what it's like for people like me. The only way to cope is if you're earning in foreign currency. If you're earning in dollars and converting it to naira, that's the only way you can thrive."

He went on to explain that even in the U.S., where people earn and spend in dollars, life is still tough. "It's hard everywhere, but Nigeria is harder," he added.

Timaya also discussed how the economic crisis is affecting the entertainment industry. "These days, promoting music requires a lot of money. In the past, we didn't even think much about shooting music videos, and when we did, it cost just about N1.5 million. Now, shooting one video can cost 50 to 100 million naira, and promoting it takes even more millions. That's why artists' booking fees have gone up," he explained.

Bobrisky Arrested for Alleged N15m Bribery While Attempting to Flee to Benin Republic – VeryDarkMan Claims

Social media activist Martins Ortse, better known as VeryDarkMan, alleged on Monday that popular crossdresser Idris Okuneye, aka Bobrisky, has been arrested by security authorities.

VeryDarkMan claimed that Bobrisky was apprehended at the Seme border while attempting to escape to the Benin Republic to evade an investigative hearing by the House of Representatives. In a video posted on his Instagram page, he stated, “Bobrisky has been arrested this morning at the Seme border while trying to enter Benin Republic to escape the current investigation by the House of Representatives. He is allegedly being held by the Nigerian immigration.”

Recently, VDM shared an audio recording in which Bobrisky purportedly admitted to bribing officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) with N15 million. In the recording, Bobrisky also claimed that he did not serve his six-month jail term in Kirikiri prison due to the influence of his godfather.

These revelations prompted an investigative hearing by the House of Representatives; however, Bobrisky failed to appear before the committee, citing illness as the reason for his absence.
