I Won’t Marry Without ₦500 Million in My Account – Spyro

Singer Spyro has declared that he will not consider marriage until he has at least ₦500 million in his bank account.

In a post on Instagram, he reflected on his difficult childhood and his determination to create a secure financial future for himself and his future family. He emphasized the importance of breaking the cycle of poverty, urging his followers to focus on long-term stability rather than fleeting pleasures.

Spyro expressed concern that many in his generation prioritize superficial pursuits over meaningful personal growth, describing this attitude as aimless and wasteful. He shared that, as a child, he was not privileged to own toys and faced numerous hardships.

Beyond financial stability, the singer stressed that proper upbringing is equally crucial. He believes that parents must not only provide for their children but also instill strong moral values and a sense of responsibility.

Blaming poor parenting for many societal issues, Spyro wrote:
"Train up a child (male or female) in the way they should go, and when they grow, they will not depart from it. Many of us should be focused on ending the cycle of poverty so our children won’t be victims too, but unfortunately, my generation is busy gallivanting and indulging in frivolities."

He recalled a conversation about his childhood struggles, stating:
"I was never fortunate enough to have toys as a kid; my childhood wasn’t the easiest. But from a very young age, I promised myself that my kids would never go through what I did. That’s why I work tirelessly. In fact, I will never marry without having ₦500 million in my account. I fought, cried, and prayed, and today, I can afford to give my kids the life they deserve so they don’t become prey, as I almost did. This should be our focus, not criticism."

Spyro further emphasized the need for spiritual and moral guidance, stating that financial success alone is not enough. He believes that instilling the fear of God in children is essential, as it helps regulate human behavior and prevents moral decay.

"The spirit of God in a man is what keeps him level-headed. Didn’t the Bible say the heart of man is desperately wicked? Only God over man keeps him sane."

February 27, 2025 EFCC Arraigns P-Square’s Ex-Manager Jude Okoye Over Alleged ₦1.3bn Fraud

EFCC Arraigns P-Square’s Ex-Manager Jude Okoye Over Alleged ₦1.3bn Fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arraigned Jude Okoye, the elder brother and former manager of Paul and Peter Okoye of the defunct music group P-Square, on charges of money laundering involving ₦1.38 billion, $1 million, and £34,537.59.

Jude was arraigned alongside his company, Northside Music Ltd, before Justice Alexander Owoeye of the Federal High Court in Lagos on a seven-count charge.

One of the charges stated that in 2022, Jude and his company allegedly acquired a property at No. 5 Tony Eromosele Street, Parkview Estate, Ikoyi, Lagos, worth ₦850 million, knowing or reasonably suspecting that the money used was proceeds of an unlawful act. This, according to the EFCC, violates Section 18 (2)(d) of the Money Laundering (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022.

Another count alleged that Jude and Northside Music Ltd used a bureau de change to convert $1,019,762.87 from an account domiciled in Access Bank Plc to naira and remitted it into various accounts to conceal its source, an act that contravenes Section 18 (2)(a) of the same Act.

Jude pleaded “not guilty” to the charges.

Following his plea, the EFCC’s counsel, Larry Peters Aso, requested a trial date and asked for the defendant to be remanded in a correctional facility pending trial. However, Jude’s lawyer, Inibehe Effiong, informed the court of a pending bail application and requested that his client remain in EFCC custody until the bail hearing.

The prosecution opposed this request, citing congestion at EFCC facilities and urging the court to remand Jude in a correctional facility instead.

Justice Owoeye adjourned the case to February 28 for the bail hearing and April 14 for trial. Meanwhile, he ordered that Jude be remanded at the Ikoyi Correctional Facility until the bail decision is made.
