Former Vice President ATIKU ABUBAKAR has asked the federal government to immediately restrict flights, temporarily, from the United Kingdom.

 ATIKU's call comes on the heels of news of a new strain of COVID-19 circulating in the UK. The new strain is said to be more infectious than the original COVID-19 virus.

 He said Nigeria must face the reality that our health sector is not sufficiently prepared to handle a sudden and unpredictable surge of this pandemic.

 According to ATIKU ABUBAKAR, Nigeria had recorded high number of cases and deaths from the virus due to the failure of the federal government to heed the warnings to shut our Airports and borders during the first wave.
