APC Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru, Labels Atiku and Obi's Petitions "Terribly Hopeless" Against tinubu's Election Victory
Senator Ajibola Basiru, the National Secretary of the All-Progressives Congress (APC), has asserted that the petitions contesting the outcome of President Bola Tinubu's victory in the recently concluded presidential election are of a "terribly hopeless" nature. These petitions are lodged by Atiku Abubakar of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP).
Basiru's dismissal of these cases was firm and clear, emphasising his view that they lack substantial grounds. He conveyed his stance during an appearance on Channels Television's Sunday Politics show, where he addressed the issue.
Speculation regarding the possibility of an election rerun was also addressed by Basiru, who refuted such claims. Drawing from his understanding of Nigerian electoral law and involvement in the proceedings, he confidently stated that the petitions targeting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's election victory hold no merit.
In his words, "They are hopeless petitions, terribly hopeless."
