June 2, 2021 Ancelotti Exits Everton, Set To Clinch Madrid Job

Carlo Ancelotti has stepped down as Everton Head coach and will stage a return to Real Madrid.

Ancelotti is one of the most respected and decorated figures in world football, one of only three men alongside Liverpool's Bob Paisley and Zinedine Zidane to win the Champions League in its various guises three times and but after a disappointing season at the Merseyside outfit, has stepped down from the post.

Everton's hierarchy will have been left reeling by the speed of events which went from Ancelotti talking about long-term planning to telling them he wanted to return to Real Madrid, where he won the Champions League in 2014.

The exit is also a cold shower on Everton's stated ambitions of joining European football's elite, an aim club owner, Farhad Moshiri hoped he had finally achieved by hiring Ancelotti.

Former Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Nuno Espirito Santo is rumoured to be a replacement for 61-year-old Ancelotti but He has also been linked with Crystal Palace but the idea of Goodison Park will surely appeal.
