Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has appointed his daughter, Helen Eno-Obareki, as the Acting First Lady of the state, following the passing of his wife.
The governor made this announcement during a condolence visit by Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, in Uyo.
Governor Eno explained that Helen would work alongside the state’s Deputy Governor to ensure the Office of the First Lady continues its responsibilities seamlessly.
“To uphold the Office of the First Lady and continue my late wife’s work, I present our daughter, Helen, to take on the duties of the office,” he stated.
“She will collaborate closely with the Deputy Governor and the Commissioner for Women’s Affairs and Social Welfare,” Eno added.
The governor expressed confidence in his daughter’s ability to succeed in this new role and sustain her mother’s legacy.
