July 29, 2022 Akeredolu: Gunmen Who Attacked Owo Didn’t Come To Kill

Almost two months after about 40 worshippers were gunned down at a Catholic Church in Owo, Ondo State, the community has come under a fresh attack.

Police confirmed the Wednesday night attack on Craneburg Construction Company at Folahami Junction in Owo with two people reportedly injured in the incident.

Police insisted that no explosives were used in what it describes as a shooting incident with no casualties recorded.

But the Chief Security Officer of the company, Tubosun Aladeselu said the two gunmen, who came in a bus, used an explosive device, and started shooting sporadically.

An eyewitness also confirmed the use of IED.

Governor Rotimi Akeredolu however said the shooting at the site was intended and designed to damage some of their equipment rather than injure or kill anyone.

Akeredolu, who visited the construction site with the Commander of the Amotekun Corps, Adetunji Adeleye, and heads of security agencies in the state, advised residents to be calm.
