Nollywood actor, Chidi Mokeme, recently opened up about the reason for his absence from the movie industry.

In an interview with Channels Television, the legendary actor revealed that he had been battling Bell's Palsy, a condition that causes sudden weakness in the muscles on one half of the face.

The actor explained that the condition is often a reaction to a viral infection and is rarely seen more than once. He likened it to a stroke, and said that it affected one side of his face, making it difficult for him to make public appearances.

To make matters worse, Chidi revealed that doctors informed him that the infection was incurable and did not have a treatment.

"I have been off the scene for a while after we did the promotional tour for 76. Before that when we were preparing to go to the UK on a trip for British International Film Festival. I came down with something called Bell’s Palsy. It comes like a stroke and affects one side of your face. And this was something the doctor said was incurable. They didn’t know what caused it and how to treat it. As an actor, you can imagine what I was going through”.

Despite the challenges posed by Bell's Palsy, Chidi Mokeme remained determined to overcome it. He took time away from the industry to focus on his health and recovery, and eventually returned to the spotlight, stronger than ever.

He continues to inspire others with his resilience and determination, proving that nothing can hold you back if you have the courage and willpower to overcome it.
