December 18, 2020 Abducted Kankara School Students Regains Their Freedom

There is wild jubilation in Kankara town following the news on the release of hundreds of students abducted from a school in the area in Katsina State.

Katsina State Governor, AMINU MASARI, confirmed the release of the students last night almost a week after they were kidnapped by gunmen.

According to him, the 344 boys are presently kept safe in Tsafe, a local government area in Zamfara State.

He noted that the boys would be brought back to Kankara in Katsina State today.

Governor, AMINU MASARI also said that no ransom was paid for their release adding the federal government and the military were involved in the negotiation for the release.

Security Expert, KABIRU ADAMU speaks to Inspiration fm on the release of the school boys and said it is too early to conclude whether any ransom was paid for their release.

But former DSS boss, MIKE EJIOFOR said the country may witness another kidnap in the north soon.

On Friday last week, gunmen suspected to be bandits invaded the Government Science Secondary School in Kankara, Katsina state and kidnapped over 300 students but some later escaped from captivity.
