President Muhammadu Buhari and the Christian Association of Nigeria have disagreed over the identity of Nigerians so far killed by Boko Haram insurgents.
Â
Â
The position of the President is that Boko Haram insurgency which began in 2009 has claimed the lives of more Muslims than Christians but CAN disagrees.
Â
Â
BUHARI gave his position in an op-ed published in Speaking Out, a guest opinion column for Christianity Today, a United States-based magazine.
Â
Â
The op-ed was a tribute to the Michika Local Government Area Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria in Adamawa State, Pastor Lawan Andimi who was recently killed by Boko Haram.
Â
Â
But CAN President, Reverend Supo Ayokunle in Ibadan over the weekend cited the killing of Andimi and a student of the University of Maiduguri, Ropvil Dalyep, saying there was no doubt that the Boko Haram insurgents were targeting Christians.
