The Education Rights Campaign has viewed the controversy generated around the implementation of the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System in the public Universities as unnecessary and diversionary.
Â
It says this is considering the enormous challenges of underfunding, skyrocketing tuition fees and clampdown on democratic rights of students.
Â
National Coordinator of the group, Hassan Soweto said despite corruption in many public tertiary institutions in Nigeria, they do not believe that IPPIS is capable of ensuring sanity, transparency and accountability in the system.
Â
Hassan Soweto also renewed call for increased funding to the education sector.
