February 1, 2025 Seven Injured in Auto Crash on Lagos-Badagry Expressway

Seven people sustained injuries in a late-night accident on Friday involving a V-Waggon commercial bus and a Toyota Camry on the Lagos-Badagry Expressway.

The incident was confirmed by the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Unit Commander, Mr. William Manga, in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Badagry.

According to Manga, the crash occurred at approximately 11:10 p.m. near Sawmill Bus Stop in the Ibereko area.

“Our personnel were alerted at about 11:15 p.m. and arrived at the scene by 11:22 p.m., just seven minutes after receiving the call,” he stated.

The accident happened when a V-Waggon commercial bus (registration number AGL 867 YA) traveling from Badagry lost control while making a U-turn, colliding head-on with a Toyota Camry (registration number KRD 232 HD) coming from Mile 2.

A total of 24 people were involved in the crash, with four men and three women sustaining various degrees of injuries. The injured victims were promptly taken to Care General Hospital in Badagry for medical attention.

Manga attributed the accident to reckless driving and urged motorists to obey traffic regulations, avoid speeding, and prevent overloading.

The two vehicles involved in the crash have been moved to Mowo Police Station in Badagry for further investigation.
