Nollywood actress Olayinka Adebanjo has called on fans and well-wishers for help in her journey to become a mother again after the heartbreaking loss of her only son.
In a recent appearance on the Talk2B podcast, Adebanjo shared the tragic story of her son, Adeniyi Ishola, a 28-year-old nurse who passed away suddenly while playing football. The grieving mother expressed her deep desire to have another child of her own rather than adopt, and she is now seeking medical alternatives to aid her conception.
Adebanjo revealed that she had considered adoption, even visiting an adoption center in Abeokuta, but she is exploring other medical options as well.
The actress, who has been a prominent figure in Yoruba films since 1983, spoke emotionally about her experience. “I have seen a lot after the loss of my son. I’ve even been called barren in my old age,” she said. “My son, Adeniyi Ishola, went to study nursing and graduated. I was ready to enjoy the fruits of my labor when he went to play football and collapsed.”
She continued, “I went to an adoption center in Abeokuta and spent a lot of money. They advised me to take medical tests, and I have their receipts. Biola, please have mercy on me. I don’t want to be barren in my old age. I want to carry my own child, not someone else’s.”
In her heartfelt plea, she asked, “Nigerians, please help me. Whatever you can do for me, I beg you. I do not want to die suddenly. Talk2B, I am begging you to do whatever you can. Have mercy on me.”
During the podcast, the host, Biola Bayo, suggested surrogacy as a possible solution, estimating the cost at around N20 million. “I don’t know how we are going to help Aunty Yinka, but I want to advise surrogacy because of her age. All we need is resources. With N15 to N20 million, we can make this happen,” Bayo said.
