Five people have been injured in a crash on the Third Mainland Bridge, near the University of Lagos Waterfront, heading toward Adeniji. The accident, which involved a commercial bus and a Toyota Highlander, took place earlier on Tuesday, causing a temporary traffic disruption.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) shared the update on X, confirming that the five injured individuals have been quickly rescued by LASTMA officials and other good Samaritans.
The statement read: “An accident occurred on the Third Mainland Bridge at Unilag Waterfront inward Adeniji, involving a commercial bus and a Toyota Highlander. There are 5 casualties (injured persons) involved and they have been swiftly rescued.”
Efforts are currently underway to clear the vehicles and restore normal traffic flow on the busy bridge. LASTMA also emphasized the importance of cautious driving, obeying speed limits, and ensuring vehicle safety before hitting the road to prevent avoidable accidents.
“Recovery of the affected vehicles is underway,” LASTMA added. “Let’s always drive cautiously, maintain the speed limit, and check car conditions before setting out.”
