Galatasaray’s technical director, Okan Buruk, has confirmed the presence of a clause in Victor Osimhen’s loan deal from Napoli, which allows the striker to leave for another club during the January transfer window.
Speaking during an interview on the Turkish champions’ official website, Buruk emphasized that Osimhen is committed to staying with Galatasaray until the season ends, despite the clause. He explained, “Osimhen has expressed his desire to remain here for the full season. He said the same thing when he first arrived. While there is a clause for a potential January transfer, the decision ultimately rests with the player, and he has assured us he wants to stay.”
Buruk also reflected on how Galatasaray secured the Nigerian forward, admitting the deal initially seemed unlikely. “We started discussions after a meeting with Mauro Icardi. At first, the idea of signing Osimhen didn’t appear realistic. After our match against Adana Demirspor, we had a video call at the airport, consulted the transfer committee, and got the president’s approval to finalize the deal.”
Osimhen joined Galatasaray on the final day of the summer transfer window after negotiations with Chelsea and Al Ahly fell through. Since his arrival, the 25-year-old has made an impressive impact, scoring eight goals and providing four assists in nine appearances across all competitions.
