In a move to reduce government expenses, President Bola Tinubu has limited ministers and heads of departments and agencies to a maximum of three vehicles in their official convoys. "No additional vehicles will be assigned to them for movement," presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga announced in a statement on Thursday.
President Tinubu also directed that ministers, ministers of state, and agency heads should have no more than five security personnel each. The designated security team will consist of four police officers and one officer from the Department of State Services (DSS), with no additional security personnel allowed.
The President tasked National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu with coordinating with military, paramilitary, and security agencies to determine appropriate reductions in their vehicle and security personnel allocations.
Onanuga emphasized that all affected officials are to comply with these measures immediately, highlighting the urgency and importance of the changes.
Earlier in January, Tinubu reduced his foreign trip entourage from 50 to 20 officials and capped local trip delegations at 25. Similarly, Vice President Kashim Shettima’s foreign trip entourage was reduced to five officials, while local trips were limited to 15.
