Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State has approved a new minimum wage of ₦80,000 for workers in the state. Announcing the decision on his social media page, Mbah stated that the new wage takes effect immediately.
"Today, I’m pleased to announce a new minimum wage for workers in Enugu State, reflecting our unwavering commitment to their welfare," the governor said. "We have approved the sum of ₦80,000, which will take immediate effect as the new minimum wage."
Governor Mbah emphasized that this decision aligns with his administration's belief that labor is a key driver of wealth, and when properly supported, workers will contribute significantly to the state's economic growth.
