The national electricity grid experienced another collapse on Tuesday, plunging millions of Nigerians into darkness. This latest incident comes less than 24 hours after a previous collapse occurred on Monday evening, around 6:48 p.m., disrupting power supply across the country.
Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC), which serves parts of Lagos State, informed its customers of the latest outage in a statement posted on its X handle:
"Dear valued customer, kindly be informed that there was a system collapse at 09:17 hrs, resulting in a loss of power supply across our network."
EKEDC assured customers that they are working with relevant partners to restore power as quickly as possible, promising to provide updates on the situation:
"We will keep you updated as soon as power is restored. Kindly bear with us."
