A gun battle erupted between soldiers and unidentified gunmen in the Ehime Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State, reportedly resulting in multiple deaths and injuries. The clash occurred at the Aba branch in Ehime Mbano on Tuesday night.
According to The Nation, the attackers ambushed and killed several soldiers in the area. "The entire place is in chaos, and troops have taken control of nearby communities," a source reported.
The intense firefight caused widespread panic as residents fled in fear amid continuous gunfire. "We are terrified," one resident said, describing the uncertainty gripping the community. "Ehime used to be peaceful, but now we’re living in fear."
At the time of this report, neither the Nigerian Army nor the police had issued an official statement about the incident.
This attack comes just days after the house of former Senator Frank Ibezim, who represented Okigwe in the 9th Assembly, and a National Open University center in Ezeoke Nsu, Ehime Mbano, were set on fire. The Imo State Police Command condemned that earlier attack.
