Ademola Lookman praised Atalanta's dominant 3-0 win over Shakhtar Donetsk in their second UEFA Champions’ League group stage match on Wednesday. It marked Gian Piero Gasperini’s side’s first victory in this season’s competition.

"I'm very happy with the win. Tonight's victory was crucial for us to take another step forward and strengthen our position in Europe," Lookman told Sky Sports.

Atalanta had begun their campaign with a goalless draw against Arsenal, and Lookman emphasized the importance of building on that performance. "After our first game against Arsenal, where we played well, it was important to build on that tonight, score goals, and secure the win, especially with a busy schedule ahead."

The 26-year-old also expressed appreciation for his teammates after receiving the Player of the Match award, saying, "It's always nice to get these awards, but I couldn’t have done it without the team, who put in a great performance today."
