Veteran comedian Ali Baba has criticized men who pressure their partners to quit their jobs simply because they earn more. Reacting to a viral story of a man who forced his wife to resign due to her higher salary, Ali Baba questioned the authenticity of the story and condemned such behavior.
In a post on his Instagram, the comedian argued that men who tie their self-worth to financial status become insecure when their partners are more successful. Instead of asking their wives to quit, he suggested that these men should be the ones to step down if they can’t handle their partner’s success.
He said, "Who are these women falling for such lies? If you earn more than your man, let him quit his job. Nonsense! Who are these lazy men pushing these absurd narratives?"
Ali Baba added, "If a woman is earning N10 million a month and her husband earns N1.5 million, how does it make sense for her to resign? That means the man’s confidence is solely based on his finances. Insecurities, my foot. Would Stedman tell Oprah Winfrey to quit? Men should be driven to improve themselves, not diminish their partners' success."
