August 7, 2024 Tobi Amusan Advances to Women’s 100m Hurdles Semi-Finals

World record holder Oluwatobiloba Amusan qualified for the semi-finals of the women’s 100 metres hurdles at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris on Wednesday. Amusan won her heat with a time of 12.49 seconds, finishing ahead of Alaysha Johnson of the U.S., who clocked 12.61 seconds. Janeek Brown of Jamaica also qualified, placing third in the heat with a time of 12.84 seconds.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria, Amusan, Johnson, and Brown are among the 15 athletes, including Olympic champion Jasmine Camacho-Quinn of Puerto Rico, who advanced to the semi-finals scheduled for Friday. They will be joined by the next three fastest runners from the five heats, as well as additional qualifiers from the repechage round by midday Thursday.

The repechage round will take place on Thursday morning, featuring 21 runners competing for three semi-final slots. The final for the event is set for Saturday.
