Nigeria’s Super Eagles have slipped once again in the latest men's rankings released by the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) on Thursday.
The three-time African champions dropped from 38th to 39th position. This follows a significant drop from the 30th to 38th position in last month's FIFA rankings.
Despite declining global rankings, the West Africans maintained their fifth position in Africa. The Atlas Lions of Morocco continue to lead in Africa, followed by Senegal, Egypt, and Côte d'Ivoire.
On the global stage, world champions Argentina held the top spot, with France in second place and newly crowned European champions Spain in third. England moved up to fourth position after reaching the Euro 2024 final, while Brazil slipped to fifth.
The next FIFA/Coca-Cola Men’s World Ranking will be published on September 19, 2024.
