Luka Modric has signed a one-year contract extension with Real Madrid, keeping him at the club until next summer. The European champions announced on Wednesday that the 38-year-old Croatia playmaker will stay on for another season.
Modric joined Real Madrid from Tottenham in 2012 and has since won six Champions League titles and four LaLiga titles, among a total of 26 trophies. Real Madrid hailed Modric as "a legend of Real Madrid and world football."
In 2018, Modric won the Ballon d'Or after leading Real Madrid to the European title and inspiring Croatia to their first-ever World Cup final. He has made 534 appearances for Los Blancos, scoring 39 goals.
