The maid of the late Nick Imudia, former Chief Executive Officer of Nigerian e-commerce giant Konga, revealed their final conversation before his death was announced last week. According to a close friend of the deceased, who spoke anonymously, the maid shared that Imudia had called her a day earlier and handed her a piece of paper with five telephone numbers, including that of his brother in the United States.

The friend recounted, “She said Nick told her to keep the numbers, and that she would need them at the appropriate time. After that, he went into the bathroom, and she heard the shower running, indicating he was having a bath. After some time, she noticed the shower was still running and wondered what he could be doing for so long. She knocked on the door but got no response, so she left.
“Moments later, the private guard knocked on the door and informed her to come and see what had happened to Nick. She rushed downstairs and found him in a terrible state. She then rushed back upstairs and found the shower still running. When she opened the bathroom door, she discovered it was empty.”
The family, through a statement, has ruled out suicide as the cause of Imudia’s death, stating that he never showed any signs of stress or depression. The family has also requested the release of his body for burial.
Meanwhile, detectives from the Homicide section of the State Criminal Investigative Department in Yaba, Lagos, are investigating the cause of death and were expecting some of those invited for questioning as of 11 a.m. yesterday.
