May 28, 2024 Pastor Sam Adeyemi: Disturbing Dreams About Nigeria Prompted Our Move to the US

Founder and Senior Pastor of Daystar Christian Centre, Sam Adeyemi, has shared the reasons behind his relocation to the United States. He discussed this during a virtual interview with Seun Okinbaloye on the 'Mic On' podcast, where they explored Leadership Beyond Governance Politics and the Role of the Younger Generation in Nigeria. The interview, lasting over an hour and a half, was streamed on the Mic On YouTube channel on Sunday.

Earlier this year, Adeyemi emphasized the need for Nigeria's older generations to take responsibility and improve the country, warning that the younger generation would soon start demanding answers.

Adeyemi disclosed that the combination of the COVID-19 pandemic, EndSARS protests, and particularly troubling dreams about Nigeria, prompted their move.

He explained, “When COVID-19 began, all our children were in the US, so we stayed with them. Just as services were about to resume, the EndSARS protests erupted, leading us to delay our return to Nigeria. After the protests turned violent, we decided to stay longer. When we were finally ready to return, we had unsettling dreams.

“My wife dreamed about traveling to Nigeria and returning to the US, which felt ominous. Shortly after, I had a dream where we were in Nigeria, and I found myself in a violent confrontation, needing to call out the name of Jesus Christ. I shouted 'in the name of Jesus Christ' so loudly that my wife woke me up.”

Adeyemi, who hails from Kogi State but was born in Niger State, added that every time they planned to return to Nigeria, a disturbing dream would occur, causing them to reconsider.

“One night, after another unsettling dream, we took it very seriously. We prayed intensely, sensing danger. A few hours later, I had another dream where I was in a fight in Nigeria,” he recounted.

The president of Success Power International, which organizes leadership, financial, and motivational seminars, noted that whenever they scheduled a return to Nigeria, he would have bad dreams about something terrible happening to him there. He mentioned it was unusual to have two dreams about the same event in one night.

“After a few days, we called family members in Nigeria, and they expressed concerns about our travel plans. We took these warnings seriously, recognizing that something significant was happening.

“At that point, we called a Zoom meeting with the top 120 leaders at Daystar Christian Centre,” he explained.

He informed the elders of Daystar about their situation, and they supported the decision to stay in the US as long as needed. “They trusted my judgment and said if God was guiding us to stay, we should do so. They assured us the church would continue its mission in our absence,” he concluded.
