A blaze has engulfed the Sokoto Central Market, with the motorcycle section bearing the brunt of the inferno. According to an eyewitness who spoke with our correspondent, the fire ignited early this morning, though its cause remains undetermined at this time.

However, another source disclosed that the fire at the Sokoto Central Market originated from a nearby dump site close to the motorcycle section.

In response to the incident, Shehu Muhammad, the chairman of the Motorcycle Marketers Association, expressed difficulty in estimating the extent of damage to motorcycles as the fire continues to rage.

"We are unable to assess the full extent of motorcycle destruction caused by the fire as it is still spreading. Unfortunately, many individuals lost their shops and motorcycles due to the swift progression of the fire, which began around 6 am," said Muhammad.

He further added, "Currently, both federal and state fire services are on-site, diligently battling the flames. However, it may take some time before the fire is fully contained."
