It marked Osimhen's second hat-trick against Sassuolo since joining Napoli in 2020, with his initial feat achieved on October 29, 2022. The 25-year-old striker also provided an assist for Kvicha Kvaratskhelia, who scored twice during the match, marking new manager Francesco Calzona's first win after three games in charge.

Osimhen's hat trick elevated his season's tally to five goals in three games since returning from the Africa Cup of Nations, and it marked his 13th goal across all competitions this season. Despite Sassuolo taking an early lead through Uros Racic's precise strike, Napoli swiftly equalized through Amir Rrahmani before Osimhen's brace turned the tide in Napoli's favor.
