February 22, 2024 Lagos Prophet Drowns During Valentine’s Day Beach Hangout

A tragic incident unfolded during a beach hangout in the Ajah area of Lagos as Oriyomi Remilekun, a Lagos-based prophet known for his adventurous spirit, drowned while celebrating Valentine's Day with friends on Saturday, February 17.

According to sources familiar with the event, Oriyomi led a group of youths from his white garment church to Avista Beach for the Valentine's Day celebration. The gathering, which started with a party at a short-term rental apartment near the resort, eventually moved to the beach.

Oriyomi's whereabouts became unknown as the evening progressed, causing concern among his friends. Despite immediate efforts to locate him, he remained missing. The following morning, the search resumed, but to no avail. Eventually, a report was filed with the local police station.

Management at Avista Beach confirmed the incident, stating that Oriyomi's remains were discovered on a separate beach in the community the following Monday. A member of the management team, speaking anonymously due to the sensitivity of the situation, expressed surprise at the delay in raising an alarm on the night of the incident.

The news of Oriyomi's passing elicited grief from those who knew him, with many taking to social media to express their condolences. One Facebook user, Erinle Abel, remembered Oriyomi as a gifted and humble prophet, lamenting his untimely departure.

Despite attempts to gather information from the police, the state police public relations officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, stated he was not aware of the incident at the time of contact.
