A prevailing sense of dread has enveloped the inhabitants of Sagwari Layout Estate in Dutse, Abuja, following a tragic turn of events where the abductors of ten individuals from the area have mercilessly taken the lives of three victims.
This harrowing incident traces back to January 7, when audacious gunmen armed with sophisticated weapons stormed the estate and seized at least ten people.
Disturbing reports emerged on Monday, revealing that the kidnappers, in a bid to convey a stern message to the families negotiating ransom payments, ruthlessly executed three of the captives.
Additionally, it has been uncovered that the assailants have escalated their financial demands, initially set at N60 million per person, to a staggering N100 million per individual. The total ransom now stands at a daunting N700 million, marking the sole condition for releasing the remaining hostages.
Further details suggest that the victims met a tragic end due to the perceived 'delay' in meeting the initially demanded ransom.
Regrettably, at the time of this report, attempts to obtain comments from the Police Public Relations Officer in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT command, were unsuccessful. The palpable fear persists, casting a sombre shadow over the community as residents grapple with the grim reality of the situation.
