November 10, 2023 Days To Poll, Imo Gets New CP In Major Police Shakeup

The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has deployed Danjuma Aboki as the new commissioner of police in Imo State.

The Force spokesman, Muyiwa Adejobi, who announced this in a statement this morning stated that the IGP also ordered the posting and redeployment of 40 Senior Police Officers to various Commands and Formations in the country comprising 14 Assistant Inspectors General of Police and 26 Commissioners of Police.

The redeployment follows the concerns and allegations raised by the organized labour, the opposition and civil society organizations regarding the neutrality of the erstwhile CP, Mohammed Barde due to his alleged involvement in the predicament that befell the Labour leader, Joe Ajaero in the state.

Similarly, Olatunji Disu has been appointed as the new Commissioner of Police in Rivers State, redeploying Emeka Nwonyi from Rivers state to the force headquarters in Abuja.

The redeployment of Nwonyi from the Rivers State Police Command and the posting of Disu to the Command followed a political crisis that rocked the state last week.

The IGP charged the newly posted officers to be professional and diligent in their exercise of Force policy.
