Lola Mewu, a Nigerian painter and artist, is trying to break the Guinness World Record for the longest hours spent painting.

She has already dedicated 40 hours to her artistic endeavour and has just 32 more to go before potentially securing her place in the record books.

Earlier this year, Lola announced her ambitious goal to break the Guinness World Record for painting, and Guinness World Records approved her proposal. Her painting marathon commenced on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at 6:30 PM.

One of the stipulations set by Guinness World Records is that the paintings must be auctioned off, a measure taken to ensure the quality of the artworks. Many of Lola's paintings capture nostalgic moments from childhood, such as scenes of playing in class, visiting a call centre, and gazing out of windows. Some of these paintings have already found new homes through auctions.

Originally scheduled for 48 hours, Lola has decided to extend her challenge by another day. This means that by Tuesday, October 31, 2023, she will have completed her extraordinary attempt.
