The Supreme Court has rejected Atiku Abubakar's request to introduce new evidence in his appeal against President Bola Tinubu, citing a lack of jurisdiction.
The apex court characterized Atiku's petition as a non-serious matter that couldn't be entertained, stating that the case was filed beyond the stipulated time and couldn't establish a forgery claim.
Atiku had sought permission from the Supreme Court to present fresh evidence of Tinubu's academic records, received from Chicago State University on October 2.
He argued that this evidence was crucial to his appeal, but the Supreme Court ruled it had no authority to consider the new evidence due to constitutional time limits. The judgment is currently underway.
