Governor Hayicnth Alia of Benue State has strongly criticized the leadership of Dunamis International Gospel Centre for the construction of a substandard building.
The tragic collapse of the church occurred early Tuesday morning, resulting in the loss of the resident pastor, Ahmed Sunday, and leaving others injured.
During his visit to the site, the Governor expressed his disappointment in not finding any of the church leaders present. He emphasized that the building was constructed with poor quality and would be subject to revocation.
He stressed the importance of the church leaders understanding and adhering to the law, as saving lives is of paramount importance.
Governor Alia further urged immediate evacuation of those residing along the waterways for safety reasons. He called upon the Ministry of Works, Housing, and Urban Development to take swift action.
Additionally, he emphasized the need to identify those responsible for approving and overseeing the construction of the ill-fated structure.
The tragic incident has brought to light the urgency of preventing such disasters in the future. Dunamis Church, led by Dr. Paul Enenche, now faces scrutiny for their role in this unfortunate event.
