Renowned musician Oluseun Anikulapo Kuti has expressed his belief that the widely popular reality show Big Brother Naija should be geared towards finding solutions to Nigeria's challenges.
During a recent interview discussing Africa's role in the United Nations, Kuti emphasised that the creators of the annual Big Brother Naija show should have directed its focus towards Nigeria's progress.
Kuti proposed that rather than centring on social skills and tactics, the show would have been more beneficial if viewers voted for the most viable solutions to Nigeria's numerous issues. He contended that this approach would contribute to finding practical answers rather than just housing contestants.
He stated, "Big Brother Naija is how it is because of its investment. It was designed by certain people to be that way. The people who designed Big Brother could have decided that it would be a show where young people discuss the issue of the country and come up with solutions, and other young people and viewers can vote on the best solution."
The outspoken public figure further emphasised that if the show were structured with development in mind, investors would contribute to Nigeria's growth and progress.
He says, "That means that the people going from entertainment to solutions and national development are investing in solutions for national development."
