Tributes have continued to pour in for the Doyen of the Accounting profession, Pa Akintola Williams, who died at his house in Lagos yesterday.
Pa Akintola Williams, Nigeria’s first indigenous Chartered Accountant, was 104. In 1952, he founded the first indigenous Chartered Accounting firm in Africa, Akintola Williams & Co., in Lagos.
A statement issued by presidential spokesman Ajuri Ngelale said President Tinubu shared the pain of loss with the icon's family, friends and associates, whom he described as a man of integrity, resilience and resourcefulness.
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo described Pa Williams as a Nigerian who was pervasive and consistent in his contributions and influence on the accounting profession and the nation.
On his part, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu described the passage of the first indigenous Chartered Accountant and elder statesman as a colossal loss.
The Governor said the legacies of Pa Akintola Williams cannot be forgotten.
The Chairman of the Ikeja and District Society of ICAN, Zakar Bala, also reflected on the life and times of Pa Akintola Williams.
