In an exciting transfer move, Chelsea announced on Friday that they have secured the signing of French international defender Axel Disasi from Monaco.
The 25-year-old centre-back, with an impressive record of 130 appearances in Ligue 1, has also earned four caps for France and was part of their squad during the last World Cup.
"I am so happy to be here, at this big club," expressed Disasi. "I am really proud to be able to be a part of this great family, and I hope to achieve very big things here, to win titles. I will do everything I can to achieve those objectives. I am very ambitious. I can't wait to feel the energy of the fans."
Chelsea's co-sporting directors, Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley, lauded Disasi's talent and international recognition, stating, "Axel has showcased his quality over several seasons in France, and that has deservedly led to recognition on the international stage. He is ready to take the next step in his career, and we are delighted that it will be with Chelsea."
The addition of Disasi comes as part of Chelsea's squad overhaul, led by new manager Mauricio Pochettino, following their worst Premier League season in almost three decades.
With their sights set on a fresh start, the Blues will kick off their new campaign at home against Liverpool on August 13.
